Two nights is the stay most teams choose: one full working day with an evening on either side. This is a sample schedule to copy and bend. It is built around how a chalet works, with one great room that stays set up, a table that seats the group, and nothing to pack away between sessions.
Arrival evening: settle in and set the frame
Arrive the evening before your working day. Nobody does their best thinking straight off a two-hour drive, and an evening together means the first session starts warm.
- Late afternoon: arrive, park at the chalet, choose bedrooms
- Early evening: dinner in Blue Mountain Village, a ten-minute walk away, or a BBQ on the deck
- After dinner: set up the great room for the morning, then fifteen minutes on what the two days are for
- Later: the hot tub or the games room, for whoever wants it
We confirm check-in and checkout times with you when you book.
The working day: hardest thing first
Run the whole team in the great room in the morning and split up after lunch. The room stays set up all day, so the afternoon starts where the morning stopped.
- 8:00 — Breakfast in the chalet kitchen
- 9:00 — The hardest session, whole team in the great room
- 10:30 — Break on the deck
- 10:45 — Second block: turn the morning into options and a draft decision
- 12:15 — Working lunch at the dining table, which seats fourteen, or the gas BBQ on the deck
- 1:30 — Breakouts in small groups: the decks, the lounge, or a second chalet next door
- 3:15 — Back in the great room to land decisions and name owners
- 4:00 — Stop working
The late afternoon: one thing together
Keep the last daylight hours for something that is not work. In winter the ski hill is 500 metres from the door. In summer there is beach access on Georgian Bay five minutes away by car, and all year the Scenic Caves, golf, wineries and spas are a short drive. Operators and phone numbers are on the things to do page.
- 4:15 — A shared activity, optional for anyone who would rather rest
- 7:00 — Dinner at the chalet from a private chef or caterer, so nobody is cooking or driving
- Evening — Hot tub, ping pong, an early night for the drivers
Local chefs and caterers are listed under private chef and dining.
Closing morning: leave with a list
The last session is short and has one job: write down what was decided.
- 8:00 — Breakfast and pack
- 9:00 — Decisions, owners and dates, written where everyone can see them
- 10:00 — What the team is not going to do, said out loud
- 10:30 — Done. Load the cars for the drive home, about two hours to Toronto
Bending it to your group
- Five to fourteen people: one chalet, with every session in the great room
- Larger teams: two or three chalets side by side, with one great room as the main room and the others for breakouts
- A third night: add a second working morning and give the activity a full afternoon
- Colleagues joining remotely for a session: the wifi holds a full day of video calls
The planning checklist covers what to settle before you build the schedule, and the meeting spaces sheet shows the rooms.
